The Mediaeval Greek and Bulgarian Documents of the Athonite Monastery of Zographou (980-1600) 1st Edition: “The new edition of Zographou mediaeval archives includes 74 authentic and 10 falsified Greek and Bulgarian documents of the period 980–1600 as well as 3 false Bulgarian ‘royal’ charters fabricated shortly before 1744. Thirteen of these acts were discovered by us and were previously unknown. The Bulgarian acts kept in Zographou are very few. There are only two Bulgarian documents from the period before 1500 – the authentic royal charters of the Bulgarian czars John Alexander and John Šišman. Three more Bulgarian documents date from the 16th century. Zographou also possesses 4 authentic Greek acts issued in 980–1200, 52 from the period 1266–1392, and one document composed in the late 15th century. Of its 12 Greek charters dated to the 16th century 5 are decisions of the archbishops of Ochrid which are not directly connected with the monastery. There also nine falsified Greek acts allegedly issued during the period 1142–1600.”–
